Rebekah Gill
Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Stage, Jazz/Lyrical, Primary Ballet
Rebekah trained at Caulfield School of Dance from her first dance class, instructed by Cori Caulfield, when she was just 2 years old. She trained in Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre, Ballet, Acro, Voice, Acting, and Contemporary/Modern and joined Caulfield’s Junior Performance Training company when she was 9 years old. She graduated from the CSD Professional Training Division in 2018. She is an awarded competitive dancer in all of her dance disciplines, as a member of ensembles, and in duos, and as a soloist. Rebekah is also a recipient of multiple scholarships from Surrey Festival of Dance, JUMP Dance Convention, and other institutions.
Rebekah was given exceptional placement to Team Canada’s 2015 Adult Tap Dance Team at the age of 14. She competed with Team Canada at the IDO World Tap Dance Championships in Riesa, Germany, and her team placed 7th in the World. Rebekah received individual sponsorship for Team Canada from Bloch®, one of the world’s largest dance wear manufacturers.
In 2016, Rebekah was one of the few dancers chosen in all of Canada to represent Bloch® Dance Canada Brand as a full-time Ambassador and modelled and promoted Bloch® attire for 2 years. In 2016, at age 15, Rebekah also successfully completed her Royal Academy of Dance Advanced Foundation ballet examination. She was also selected to the Rockettes 2016 Summer Intensive in New York City and trained intensively with the Radio City Rockettes and performed at the Skirball Centre for the Performing Arts.
Rebekah has studied tap with several of the great masters of the genre including her Caulfield School of Dance mentor Hailley Caulfield Postle; other tap genre specialists brought in as Guests to CSD; and also those she has sought out to take intensives and special workshops with in other places. Once again sponsored by Bloch®, Rebekah trained in New York City with the celebrated tap choreographer and performer Michelle Dorrance.
Rebekah demonstrated exceptional leadership at a very early age and began work as a Teaching Assistant when she was only 9 years old. Rebekah was one of the youngest ever recipients of the Caulfield School of Dance Award of Excellence, our top award, for exemplifying the School’s values, when she was just 12 years old. After several years as a Teaching Assistant, Rebekah became a Teacher Trainee, choreographing pieces for competition and substitute teaching.
In her Grade 12 year of high school, while a member of the CSD Professional Training Division, and a Teacher Trainee, Rebekah earned acceptance into the SFU biomedical physiology program. She also produced a show at Heritage Woods Theatre to raise money for Kids Up Front, a charity that helps less financially advantaged children to experience live events. Since graduating from CSD, she continues to further her dance training as part of her acceptance into “Platform,” Harbour Dance Centre’s pre-professional performance-based company
Rebekah is excited to help lead a new generation of young people in the wonderful world of the performing arts. We are excited to have Rebekah’s skill and infectious enthusiasm and energy as part of the Caulfield School of Dance faculty.
