The Charles Best Secondary School Dance Marathon event is on May 27, 2016 from 4:30-9:30 PM in the School’s Gymnasium.
Caulfield School of Dance senior students will perform a number at 6:00 PM and another at 6:20 PM.
The Charles Best Secondary School Dance Marathon is a year-long, student-led fundraising initiative that supports Children’s Miracle Network member hospitals across North America. Charles Best students raise money for their local children’s hospital by collecting donations from friends and family and participating in various events throughout the year. The event in the Charles Best gymnasium on Friday, May 27 will be a celebration of the total amount raised with live music, performances, and entertainment. Patient families from the local hospital also participate in the event and share their heartwarming stories. 100% of the proceeds go towards helping local children in need at the BC Children’s Hospital.
To date, Dance Marathons across the U.S. and Canada have raised over $65 million for Children’s Miracle Network member hospitals. Each Dance Marathon is entirely student-led, collectively making Dance Marathon one of the world’s largest and most successful student-run philanthropies. Every dollar raised by our participants will support children in need right here in British Columbia. On average, 700 kids per day receive care at BC Children’s Hospital for everything from accidents to cancer to congenital illness. Donations from Dance Marathon are put into an “undesignated funds” pool to be used by the hospital wherever the money is needed the most. Whether used to purchase the latest life-saving equipment or in funding the construction of the new BC Children’s Hospital, you can be sure that your donations will stay local and make a difference in a child’s life. The success of the fundraisers and events is mostly due to the generosity of our sponsors.
