Broadway Boot Camp
In the Broadway Boot Camp, aspiring performers ages 5 to 8 learn a scene, including a song and choreography, from Mary Poppins Returns or The Greatest Showman in 1 hour per day over 3 days:

A student at CSD from the age of 3, Lauren was awarded the Caulfield School of Dance Award of Excellence, the top scholarship award, for the 2013-2014 year and continued to be a model of citizenship, dedication, effort, and achievement through to her graduation. As a member of the Performance Training Company, and the Professional Training Division, Lauren trained in all disciplines at Caulfield School of Dance achieving a majority of 1st placements in ensembles and as a solo competitor in ballet, jazz, lyrical, tap, musical theatre/song and dance, voice, contemporary dance, etc.
Lauren was Provincial Voice Champion for Musical Theatre Under 14 Years, (when she was age 12) and Under 18 Years (at age 14). She then took a year off of vocal competition. In the following year, after receiving a mark of Distinction – the highest awarded by the R.A.D. – for her Advanced I Vocational Ballet and Pointe examination, at age 14, Lauren was preparing to do her Advanced II examination. After impressive competition results in ballet the previous year, Lauren was also preparing for the first time to compete provincially in Ballet. But in January, her feet were injured and pointe shoes would not be an option until she recovered. It was devastating to have to shelf her ballet solos and R.A.D. exam, but Lauren was again selected to compete at the 2015 Provincials in Voice. At age 16, in the Provincial Age 18 and under Musical Theatre category, Lauren was awarded 1 of only 2 Provincial Honourable Mentions given (the other went to her fellow CSD voice student, Madison Simms, also age 16). And Lauren was awarded Provincial Runner-up in the Vocal Variety category.
Months later, Lauren completed her Advanced II R.A.D. examination and was awarded Distinction. Soon after, she was cast dancing en pointe in the movie “Center Stage 3.”
CSD alumna Lauren Phillips, entering her 4th year at Sheridan, will instruct 2019 Summer Samplers and Broadway Boot Camp.
Lauren graduated in June of 2016. She auditioned for and was accepted to: Capilano University’s Musical Theatre Diploma program (over 200 students auditioned that year and 22 were accepted); Randolph Academy for their Performing Arts Diploma program; and Sheridan, Canada’s premiere post-secondary musical theatre training institution. Over 500 students auditioned and they accept 45, including Lauren, who accepted their invitation as Sheridan was her first choice.
At Sherdian, Lauren has been extensively studying ear training (sight singing and sight reading), music theory, piano, voice (pop, musical theatre, and classical), dance, choreography, film acting, theatre acting, dialect training, and stage combat. This past year, she was part of Sherdian’s production of “On the Town”. Lauren will be going into her fourth and final year in the fall and will participate in four musical production as she completes her Honours Bachelor of Music Theatre Performance.
It is wonderful to have Lauren home for the summer from Toronto to share her inspiring love of the performing arts and her skills and knowledge with students in the Broadway Boot Camp and Samplers.
Summer Samplers
Ballet/Creative Dance • Tap* • Jazz/Modern/Contemporary • Hip Hop • Musical Theatre: Singing with Dancing and Acting
Samplers are a fun way for students new to performing arts training up to an intermediate level, to experience several of the disciplines offered by Caulfield School of Dance in one week. Samplers are also very helpful for selecting programs for the upcoming September to June year.
Summer Samplers are $65.00 +gst
* Tap requires tap or hard soled “party” type shoes. We do have a few pairs of tap shoes to borrow for the samplers on a first come first served basis. Students can take the tap portion in socks or ballet shoes.
