Alexis and Nolen after placing 2nd for Duo Lyrical 9 to 10 years

Addendum June 5: Kirsten Volberg placed 1st for her tap solo 15 years, choreographed by Hailley Caulfield Postle, at Chilliwack festival too!

The Chilliwack Lions Club dance festival concluded on Saturday. After much success in the Modern/Contemporary and Hip Hop sections, we just heard that “Grace 2” (Group Contemporary 14 years) is invited to perform and will receive a special award at the Honours Performance.

The Jazz section began with Alexis Fiorda and Nolen Dubuc’s placing 2nd for their lyrical jazz duo, choreographed by Hailley Caulfield Postle, followed by Isabel doing her very first competition and her very first solo!

The “Proud Mary” cast with Elle and Miss Lauren

The jazz group, “Proud Mary” had to compete without 4 members of its cast due to Mena’s illness, Elle injuring herself in an audition earlier in the week, and two in Quebec  for school. Congratulations to  “Proud Mary,”  choreographed by Lauren Taylor, for pulling together with Elle’s help, and placing 3rd in Group Jazz 15 years.

With many of our students also doing their R.A.D. Vocational exams, it was a very busy week!

Rebekah after “Idlewild Blues”; Thank you Chilliwack Lions Club Festival!

Thank you to all the parents and teachers for all your support to the competing students. And thank you to the festival organizers and volunteers who dealt with blizzards, power outages, rescheduling (and more rescheduling!),  and more, but kept working their hardest and succeeded again in hosting a great festival for the youth of the lower mainland.
