Chilliwack Festival off to a Great Start with Ballet!

Congratulations to all of our dancers who competed this past long weekend with amazing performances in the Ballet section of the Chilliwack Lions Club Dance and Music Festival which began on Thursday, February 14 and will run until Sunday, March 3.

Carter, Robynn, and Lorena 

Congratulations to Lorena Morissette and Carter Hayes who placed 3rd and 2nd, respectively, for their Variations Age 15; Lorena coached by Emily Nicholson, Jocelyn Wozencroft and Cori Caulfield; and Carter by Jocelyn Wozencroft. Aerin Chow placed 1st for her Interpretive Solo Age 8, choreographed by Julia Zennstrom, and to round out a wonderful Valentine’s Day, Caitlyn Woo placed 3rd for her Interpretive Solo Age 14 choreographed by Jocelyn Wozencroft, and Kaia Neal placed 1st for her Interpretive Age 14 Solo choreographed by Hailley Caulfield Postle with Cori Caulfield.

Bright and early on Day 2, Kaia Neal received 2nd place for her Contemporary Ballet Solo Age 14 choreographed by Cori Caulfield, and Cailtyn Woo placed 3rd for her Contemporary Ballet Solo Age 14 choreographed by Jocelyn Wozencroft. Carter Hayes placed 2nd for Contemporary Ballet Solo Age 15 choreographed by Cori Caulfield, and our first duo of the competition Madison Coulter and Sue Lee received 1st place in Duo Ballet Ages 16 – 20, choreographed by Jocelyn Wozencroft.

Kaia Neal received 1st place for her Variation en Pointe Age 14 coached by Cori Caulfield, and Caitlyn Woo received 2nd place for her Variation en Pointe Age 14 coached by Jocelyn Wozencroft.

We also had three groups compete over the weekend, all of which did wonderfully!

       “Point(e) Made” with Ms Jocelyn

Our Half Day Programs Pointe Ballet piece “Point(e) Made” choreographed by Jocelyn Wozencroft placed 1st, and their Contemporary Ballet piece “Pair Bonds” choreographed by Cori Caulfield placed 2nd.

“Cinq pour quatorze” after competing

Ballet Performance 2 Closed group “Cinq pour quatorze” choreographed by Cori Caulfield, place 1st for their Group Ballet Age 9 – 10 years, and also received the trophy over the  age groups Age 9 – 10 years and Age 11 – 12 years..

The Ballet section at Chilliwack ended with younger ballet soloists. All had amazing runs and some of whom competed as soloists for the first time!

Aerin Chow placed 2nd and Olivia Jayetelike 3rd for their Solo Demi Pointe Ballet Age 7 – 8 years coached by Julia Zennstrom and Carrie Coulter respectively. Chiara Go placed 2nd for her Solo Demi Pointe Ballet Age 10 choreographed by Cori Caulfield.

Overall, a wonderful weekend at Chilliwack Festival with many more great days to come! Congratulations to All!
