Tap

IMG_2866

Tap dance uses metal plates called taps on the soles of shoes so the dancer is also a musician. Tap is a fun dance style that is an integral part of the musical theatre performer’s skill set and gives all performers a greater understanding of rhythm and style. Tap classes are available for ages 3 to Adult.

Children age 3 to 4 years can take a Preschool Stage/Tap course.

Most children aged 4 to 8 take tap concurrent with a Ballet program. Ballet with Tap and Musical Theatre (singing, acting, and dance) courses, give a well-rounded introduction to the performing arts.

Tap performance courses prepare a performance piece for our annual spring stage production. Some levels also compete.

Tap Technique courses only focus on developing tap dance skills and do not prepare pieces for performing. Taking a Tap Technique course is highly recommended to all dance students as it so effectively promotes co-ordination and musicality, and both are crucial to all dance forms.

Private or Semiprivate instruction available subject to scheduling availability in all disciplines to develop skills or to prepare performing pieces.

Adult Tap courses also available.
