Sara graduated from Caulfield School of Dance in June of 2012 and has been pursuing her undergraduate degree at U.B.C. since September of that year. Sara writes:
Hi Ms. Cori,
I hope that the New Year is treating you well. I went through the new website as it had not been redone when I was at the school. It looks phenomenal and I hope it can help attract more students to come dance with the amazing faculty.
I am so proud of Ben. I have been fortunate enough to be able to see him while he was in Vancouver this past summer along with some of the other graduates. He is really doing great. I am not surprised he got to dance a Principle Role at the San Francisco Ballet. He is extremely dedicated and hard working. I can see him going very far with his dance career. I am so glad that I had to opportunity to work with someone with such positive energy.
It seems like it has been a long time since I have been back at Caulfield. I miss it so much! I am currently in the application process of the Co-op program at UBC (placing students in paid internships). I have discussed with my mentor about what makes me a strong candidate in this highly competitive program and he is suggesting I highlight my experience with dance.
I must say, when I graduated from Caulfield I knew I wanted to be pushed in a competitive environment just like when I made the bold decision to join the Performance Training Company at Caulfield. I know that a competitive environment is what pushes me to be successful, grow, and improve. I am still dancing as part of the UBC Ballet Clubs competitive team, and am teaching some Intro Ballet classes at UBC's recreation centre, along with working in community centres teaching ballet to children.
Dancing at Caulfield has instilled a hard working, resilient, and passionate character into who I am now and was hoping that I could showcase how important this experience is by using you as a good reference. If you could let me know if you are able to be a reference for me I would greatly appreciate it!
In my co-op, I am open for jobs in the Fine Arts and in Environmental Geography. I am currently applying for a position as a Performing Arts Facilitator. I would be able to gain new skills in the position that would push me in my career and also utilize the skills and knowledge I gained from Caulfield. I know that highlighting my education at Caulfield School of Dance will definitely be proof of a great education in the Performing Arts.
I am very proud to have come from Caulfield. Thank you Cori for all that you do for your students!
