Lorena Morissette, Conrad Cahoon, Kaia Neal and Shanna Lilley backstage

Dancers of the Professional Training Division Classical Half-Day Program competed at the Youth American Grand Prix Toronto Semi-Final March 13 to 15. It has taken too long to get this news out, (but maybe it’s never too late for good news?): Conrad Cahoon was recognized a Top 24 Award for Senior Men and Women’s Classical Variations in a field 180 entires. Conrad was also offered a scholarship from the Bolshoi Ballet Academy Summer Intensive which he declined, and the Alberta Ballet School, which he has accepted. He will be begin the two-year A.B.S. Post Graduate Program in September. Congratulations Conrad!

Shanna Lilley, Lorena Morissette, Kaia Neal and Conrad Cahoon, some of their family members and Caulfield School of Dance Director Cori Caulfield flew to Toronto on March 12. “Yes,” Caulfield said, “we were in Toronto when the world shut-down! The morning after we arrived, the dancers were supposed to have master classes but they were canceled and we worried there would be no competing too! But the dancers got to do all their pieces, except Shanna. She did an excellent run of her contemporary piece, but wasn’t well enough to train sufficiently en pointe before the competition so couldn’t dance her variation or the ensemble piece.”

Congratulations to all the dancers for their performances and high scores at YAGP Toronto!
