Success in Contemporary, Hip Hop and Acro at Chilliwack Festival

Chilliwack Festival continued this week with the Contemporary/Modern, Hip Hop and Acro Categories.

Congratulations to all dancers who competed!

                 “Everybody’s Free”

We had three Contemporary Groups compete this week at Chilliwack. Our Contemporary 2 Closed Course piece “Everybody’s Free”, competing as Contemporary Group Age 9, and our Professional Training Division group “I Might Be Wrong”, competing as Contemporary Group Age 15, both choreographed by Hailley Caulfield Postle both placed first in their categories! Our Half Day Programs piece “Ghost Lights” choreographed by Amber Funk Barton also received 2nd place in the Contemporary Group Age 16 category. Congratulations Dancers!

This week we also had some solos and duos compete. Kaia Goddard placed 1st in her Modern Solo Age 15 choreographed by Cori Caulfield and 2nd place in her Contemporary Solo Age 15 choreographed by Hailley Caulfield Postle. Aaliyah Fiorda placed 1st place in her Contemporary Solo Age 14 choreographed by Crystal Wills and prepared by Hailley Caulfield Postle. Nathalie Brown and Rachelle Payandeh both placed 3rd place for their Contemporary Solo Age 16. Nathalie’s solo was choreographed by Cori Caulfield and Rachelle’s by Hailley Caulfield Postle.

Carter Hayes and Kaia Goddard placed 3rd in their Duo Contemporary Age 13 – 15 choreographed by Cori Caulfield and Dasha Marinets and Kiara Burasee placed 3rd in their Duo Contemporary Age 16 – 21 choreographed by Hailley Caulfield Postle. The third duo Caitlyn Woo and Natalie Phang place 1st for their Duo Contemporary Age 13 – 15 years choreographed by Amber Funk Barton and they have also been invited to the Chilliwack Honours performance on Sunday March 10 at the Chilliwack Cultural Center! Congratulations on this honour Caitlyn and Natalie!

 

 

All three Hip Hop Groups before competing

Late in the week  three of our Hip Hop/Street Dance groups competed. Hip Hop 2/3 Closed Group “Music Therapy” received 2nd place and Hip Hop 1/2 Closed Group “Blow Your Mind” received 1st place and were both choreographed by Stewart Iguidez. Our Professional Training Division Hip Hop Group “We Run This” placed 1st and was choreographed by Lauren Taylor.

 “Dark World” after competing

This past Saturday our Acro Closed Performance Group “Dark World” choreographed by Lauren Taylor also placed 1st.
