“Zoot Suit Riot” the Highest Scoring Number in all Sections of the 2019 Chilliwack Lions Club Music and Dance Festival
The Chilliwack Lions Club Music and Dance Festival hosted an amazing few weeks of excellent performing opportunities and adjudication for thousands of young dancers’ efforts culminating in its Honours Performance yesterday. Several dancers from Caulfield School of Dance competed, and every single one left it all on the floor giving one beautiful performance after another. We could not be more proud of their showings in the Ballet, Modern and Contemporary, Hip Hop, Acro, Jazz and Lyrical and Tap and Stage Sections of the festival.
Sadly, the following five of our numbers invited to perform in the Chilliwack festival’s Honours Performance were unable to participate due to competing at the Synergy competition in Duncan, BC:
- “Zoot Suit Riot” Group Tap Age 15, choreographed by Hailley Caulfield Postle, which received 1st place in its class, trophy over 1 other age group, and the Highest Score of All Numbers in all Sections of the 2019 Chilliwack Lions Club Music and Dance Festival and a full scholarship to the No Borders competition (which they forfeit due to not being available to perform at the Honours Performance).
- “Can’t Take My Mind Off of You” Group Lyrical Age 15, choreographed by Hailley Caulfield Postle, which received 1st place in its class, and a full scholarship to the No Borders competition (which they forfeit due to not being available to perform at the Honours Performance).
- “Bring it On” Group Song and Dance Age 14, choreographed by Jocelyn Gauthier, which received 1st place in its class.
- Victoria Russo and Taia Fiorda, Duo Tap Age 10, choreographed by Hailley Caulfield Postle, which received 1st place in its class and the trophy over 4 Age categories: 9, 10, 11, and 12 years.
- “Jailhouse Rock” Group Tap Age 9, choreographed by Hailley Caulfield Postle, which received 1st place in its class.
The dynamic duo of Natalie Phang and Caitlyn Woo, whose Duo Contemporary 13 – 15 years, choreographed by Amber Funk Barton, had the Highest Score of All Ballet and Contemporary Duos in the festival, performed yesterday, March 10 at the Chilliwack Cultural Center. (Madison Coulter and Sue Lee’s Duo Ballet Age 16 – 21 years choreographed by Jocelyn Wozencroft, received the Highest Score of All Ballet Duos in the festival!)
