* Science tells us that dance develops creativity, physical self-expression, flexibility, coordination, rhythm, and cognitive skills including “good listening” and cooperation.

For a long list of scholarly articles, just search for “dance and cognitive development” for example, on any search engine. One example of research validating the benefits of dance, was done at Universities of York and Sheffield in the UK:

“All those who chose to dance displayed problem-solving skills afterwards,” Dr. Peter Lovatt from the University of Hertfordshire explains. “This same study also found that… dancing… can boost happiness and improve creative-thinking patterns.”

Caulfield School of Dance instructors are lead by School Artistic Director, Cori Caulfield, who studied dance pedagogy in Directed Studies with Professors Grant Strate (Order of Canada recipient; National Ballet of Canada), Ruth Emerson (Judson Dance Group), and Judith Garay (Martha Graham Dance Company) at Simon Fraser University. Her degree studies included Kinesiology and Nutrition and she is constantly upgrading her knowledge is these fields and in childhood development. She founded the School in 1987 to share the performing arts with young people in a wholistic and healthful way that develops excellence in technical skill and artistry without ever compromising the physical or emotional safety of the children who are educated at her School.
