Storyline and Comments
Storyline: “Collages” is a short drama about a young girl who tries to connect with her depressed mother through art. Eloise, 10, is losing her childhood to the reality of divorce and a broken family. A series of vignettes show Eloise making art in an attempt to understand her mother’s volatile behavior and the absence of her father. Eloise’s attempts to connect with her mother are futile, so she tries another way to maintain a sliver of control in the chaos. Through a disorienting tone and elegant suspense, we experience this world through Eloise’s young eyes to explore the power of a child’s non-verbal expression in a time of trauma. Submission Instructions: Please email Stefanie Bartlett at bartlett.stefanie@gmail.com for consideration.
