Caulfield School of Dance Students Share the Performing Arts

Caulfield School of Dance Students were out sharing the performing arts in the community with three different shows this weekend: two in Coquitlam and one in Vancouver.

On Friday, May 27, several of our senior students, three of whom are students at Dr. Charles Best Secondary, performed two numbers as part of the Charles Best Secondary School Dance Marathon event. This student-led fundraiser supports Children’s Miracle Network member hospitals across North America.

On Saturday, May 28, Caulfield School of Dance students performed two numbers,  “Clowns to the Left, Jokers to the Right” and “Home” both choreographed by “tap sensation” (The Georgia Straight)  Hailley Caulfield Postle in the 14th Annual Tap Day Celebration Tappin’ To Our Roots show honouring two iconic local teachers, Ted Cawker and Evelyn Ward, at the Norman Rothstein Theatre in Vancouver. The audience response to both numbers from the Tap Day audience was fantastic and very touching to the performers and Miss Hailley.

And later that same day(!) students presented a show with performers as young as three years old at The Madison Care Centre. IMG_1632

Carol Rekunyk arranged for the show at the residence of her Mother-in-Law, Margaret.  Carol shared this picture (right) and said, “This is a small portion of the actual number of residents that packed into to lobby area to watch.”

One of the residents said before with show began that she was “just vibrating –  I’m so excited! Just feel my hands!”.

Carol  said, “The tow tapping, smiles and tears of joy from Hailey’s Grandma and the other residents were too much! What a beautiful thing!”

Lauren Phillips‘ Mom Karolin took on the Mistress of Ceremonies role with aplomb and announced that Margaret Rekunyk had not seen 16 year-old Hailey perform since she was 9 year old, and that Hailey wished to dedicate her solo to her Grandma. Hailey’s dedication made the wonderful show all the more special.

May 28 was also the Parent Orientation Meeting, Finale Rehearsal, and the last In Studio Dress Rehearsal day for the June 10 to 12 Caulfield School of Dance yearend production “Speak to Me“ at Terry Fox Theatre.

It was a VERY busy weekend, but one that brought many special moments. Thanks to all the parents, and students, and teachers who made it all happen!IMG_4389IMG_4394
