Professional Training Division

Our Professional Training Division gives dedicated students the best possible support to their personal performing arts goals. Caulfield School of Dance has a proven record of supporting young performers in realizing their dreams. Alumni are dancing in world class ballet companies, working as “Triple Threat” (singer/ dancer/ actor) performers, and professional choreographers, contemporary dancers, singers, actors, and creators and teachers.

Half Day training is optional for Professional Training Division programs, but all half Day program students are members of the Professional Training Division.

Professional Training Division program enrolment is by audition. Those selected, and their parent(s), must sign a contract outlining their commitment to the program’s obligations and policies.

Each Division student’s program is custom designed to maximize improvement in the current year for optimal preparation for a future in the performing arts. Every Division member is given a program custom designed by faculty which includes:

  • Technique courses in some or all of the disciplines offered by the School as best supports the student’s goals.
  • at least one Division performing course. Every member of each Division performing course is a Division student selected by audition to be capable of performing in that discipline at the highest level.

Professional Training Division tuition is subsidized by Caulfield School of Dance. The Division program’s primary goal is to make affordable the finest education in dance, singing, and/or acting for students who put their performing arts training first, whether they wish to pursue a career in the field or not. Tuition is under a fee ceiling.

  • Auditioning for Invitational/Closed Programs
    • Audition
    • Summer Intensive Weeks
    • September Company/Division Workshop
  • Performance Training Company/Professional Training Division Program Tuition
  • Division Member and Parent Obligations
  • Division Member Program Policies

As a faculty, we are passionate about supporting the journey of young artists in reaching their performing arts goals and grateful for the trust placed in us to lead dedicated students in a year of discovery and growth in technical skill, artistry, and citizenship.

Students invited to accept Professional Training Division programming receive a program of courses custom designed by Caulfield School of Dance faculty.

Division students are entitled to significant training subsidies with the understanding that their Caulfield School of Dance performing arts training is their first priority beyond their regular scholastic education. P.T.D. program discounts on tuition are contingent on receipt of contracts filled out by parents and participants and fulfillment of the contracts’ terms and conditions.

Fees for up to 2 weeks of  Summer Intensive training, and 3 weeks for programs with the Half Day option, and the Division Workshop are payable in advance but included in Division program when total regular group course tuition is at the special Fee Ceiling.

Families of Division program students must pay the Registration Fees and a deposit on Tuition with or before submission of the contracts. No one is permitted to take any classes whatsoever without being registered. Fees for Summer Intensive training, the Division Workshop, and Registration Fees  can be postdated up to August 10.

An invitation to enroll in a Division course in any of the disciplines for which flexibility is an obvious requirement (i.e. ballet, modern/contemporary dance, jazz dance, etc.) comes with the expectation that flexibility will be improved upon continuously and that, for example, 3 splits at a minimum of 180 degrees from the start of the creation process will be required for uncompromised casting.

Success in the performing arts is always most possible for the most skilled and versatile technician with the most compelling and versatile presence.

Private or semiprivate instruction for technical advancement and/or preparation of repertoire (usually for local competing) is highly recommended for all Division members.

Parent(s) and Division students pledge to ensure understanding of and adherence to the obligations and policies of Closed Programs.

Parent(s) and Division students pledge to ensure understanding of and adherence to the program’s obligations and policies.
