Sylvain Senez, one of the Guest Instructors for the 2017 Caulfield School of Dance Summer Intensives
Sylvain Senez will be teaching Ballet Technique and Repertoire as one of the Guest Instructors for Week B (August 14 to 18) of the 2017 Caulfield School of Dance Ballet and Contemporary Summer Intensives.
Sylvain Senez danced as a soloist with Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, the Judith Marcuse Dance Company, and Ballet British Columbia.
Active on the professional Canadian dance scene for over 35 years, Sylvain was recently a guest artist with Coleman Lemieux Company for their James Kudelka Tribute Program, and Les Productions Figlio’s “The Strange Adventure of Myself” a full-length solo created for him by Serge Bennathan.
Sylvain was the Rehearsal Director and Ballet Master at Ballet BC for seventeen years where he had the privilege of working with and assisting in the remounts and creations of many choreographers such as Emily Molnar, Crystal Pite, James Kudelka, Medhi Walerski, Jorma Elo, Kevin O’Day, Nicolo Fonte, Gustavo Sansano Ramirez, Cayetano Soto, Johan Inger, Jacopo Godani, Jose Navas, Gioconda Barbuto, John Alleyne and Aszure Barton, among others.
As a dancer, rehearsal director, teacher and choreographer, Sylvain is an advocate for the nurturing of dancers and the importance of cultivating their individuality and their artistry. He honours the training and dedication it takes, and the commitment that each individual makes on a daily basis to be a dancer.
Sylvain has choreographed for the Ballet BC choreographic workshops, Dancing on the Edge Festival and the Vancouver Opera. As well as teaching for Ballet BC, he has taught at Arts Umbrella, Richmond Academy, Harbour Dance, and given repertoire workshops at many institutions. He is also a videographer and a photographer specializing in dance and portraiture.
Featuring Guest Faculty and Caulfield School of Dance teachers, the Caulfield School of Dance Summer Intensive weeks are an invaluable experience. Even one full week produces amazing improvement. The Ballet and Contemporary Intensive Weeks are August 7 to 25; the Multidiscipline Weeks are August 21 to September 1. For those pursuing Performance Training Company Programs, or Professional Training Division courses clouding Half Day training, participation in 2 weeks of Summer Intensive training is especially recommended and up to 2 weeks of Summer Intensive Tuition fees are included in 2017-2018 Company and Division program tuition at the Special Fee Ceiling.
