Originally from Port Moody, B.C., Lara Barclay is a graduate of the National Ballet School and Hamburg Ballet School. At the National Ballet School, Peggy Baker greatly influenced her passion for modern dance. Upon graduation, Lara headed for Europe, continuing her studies at John Neumeier’s Hamburg Ballet School and soon after, joining the Kiel Ballet. Lara has been performing for 23 years with companies in Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Canada, USA, and Brazil. Independently, she has had worked with Sylvain Émard, Barak Marshall, Mascall Dance, Evann Siebens, Vision Impure, Plastic Orchid Factory, and Deborah Colker. With Joshua Beamish’s Move: The Company, Lara worked with Cori Caulfield, Crystal Wills and CSD alumna Heather Dotto too. With Donald Sales and Cherise Baron, Lara’s work with Project 21, included performing with Cori Caulfield. As a dancer with Aszure Barton & Artists, Lara has been touring on international stages for the past seven years, most recently performing “Awáa” at the Ford Centre in LA. In November 2017, Lara performed “Wells Hill” in Vancouver’s prestigious Dancehouse Series in a premiere by Vanessa Goodman/Action at a Distance.

Lara was a founding co-director of Lamondance. An active teacher, rehearsal director and choreographer, Lara teaches at Ballet BC, Arts Umbrella, Lamondance, RNB Dance and Modus Operandi. Behind the scenes, Lara is a mother of two daughters, a yoga teacher, and recently graduated with a diploma in Expressive Arts Therapy. This summer, Lara will begin her Masters degree in Expressive Arts Therapy through the European Graduate School in Switzerland. Lara loves to share with young people her wealth of knowledge and unique perspective developed from her rich and diverse international background in professional dance.

Featuring Guest Faculty and Caulfield School of Dance teachers, the Caulfield School of Dance Summer Intensive weeks are an invaluable experience. Even one full week produces amazing improvement. The Ballet and Contemporary Intensive Weeks are August 7 to 24; the Multidiscipline Weeks are August 20 to 31. For those pursuing Performance Training Company Programs, or Professional Training Division courses including Half Day training, participation in 2 weeks of Summer Intensive training is especially recommended and up to 2 weeks of Summer Intensive Tuition fees are included in 2018-2019 Company and Division program tuition at the Special Fee Ceiling.
