Caulfield School of Dance is thrilled to announce that beginning Summer 2017, Jocelyn Wozencroft A.R.A.D., B.A.(HONS), R.A.D. R.T.S. will be leading our Ballet section including our Monday to Friday 1:30 – 4pm Ballet and Contemporary Dance Half Day Training, and teaching all levels of the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus.
This summer, Miss Jocelyn will teach Summer Drop-in Ballet Technique Maintenance Classes and will also instruct, along with guest instructors including Nicole Caron (Alberta Ballet) and Sylvain Sinez (Ballet BC), in the elite Ballet and Contemporary Summer Intensive for Intermediate and Senior level dancers.
Jocelyn Wozencroft danced professionally on the international stage before devoting her talents to teaching and mentoring in her hometown area of the lower mainland.
Jocelyn trained at Goh Ballet Academy, and at age 11, was accepted and attended the National Ballet School. She came home to train with the Richmond Academy of Dance for several years. She was then accepted to the Royal Winnipeg Ballet school, where she trained full time.
Returning home to Vancouver to pursue her dancing dreams locally, Jocelyn went on to finish her R.A.D. Vocational exams up to the Solo Seal level, and was selected to compete at the Performing Arts BC Provincial competition. She was then accepted to the Boston Ballet School on scholarship with the additional honour of working with the BBII Company. Returning home, Jocelyn completed her training with the Richmond Academy of Dance, with whom she credits for her strong technical and artistic approach to her dancing. At this time, she was a semi-finalist prize winner in London’s annual Adeline Genee Awards, and was chosen to represent BC in the Canada Summer Games in London, Ontario, where she had the honour to collaborate with artists from all fields from across Canada.
Jocelyn received her first professional contract at the age of 17 with the Banff Professional Dance Company. There she had the honour of dancing lead roles with such choreographers as Crystal Pite, Wen Wei Wang, Shawn Hounsell, and Joe Laughlin. Upon completion of this summer opportunity, Jocelyn was offered a position with Ballet Central (England). There she danced roles in classical ballet productions, and others, including many Balanchine works. At this time, Jocelyn completed her B.A.(HONS) with Trinity College in London, England. Jocelyn went on to continue her dancing career with other companies as a Principal Dancer in England and Canada.
Jocelyn holds her R.A.D. R.T.S., one of the highest standards in teaching with the Royal Academy of Dance, and is also an R.A.D. Mentor. Jocelyn has been teaching students to the highest standards; earning Distinctions on most ballet exams, top placements at local competitions, and taking dancers to the Adeline Genee Awards. Her graduates also have been placed with top post secondary programs and professional ballet companies.
We are privileged to be able to offer Jocelyn’s passion and expertise at Caulfield School of Dance.
Welcome Miss Jocelyn!
