Chilliwack Festival Tap, Stage, Song and Dance

This past weekend, Friday, February 28, to Monday, March 1, several of our dancers competed in with much success in the Tap, Stage, and Song and Dance Sections of the 2020 Chilliwack Lions Club Music and Dance Festival (CLCMDF).

Mia Reitenbach, CLCMDF Intermediate Jazz & Stage Dance Provincial Representative

Our only Stage soloist, Mia Reitenbach, age 13, will join Kaia Goddard at Provincials after being selected by the Chilliwack festival as their Intermediate age (ages 13 to 15 years) Jazz & Stage Dance Provincial Representative.

Mia will perform (along with Kaia, and three CSD Group numbers),  at the Chilliwack Lions Club Music and Dance Festival Honours Performance, at 1pm, this Sunday, March 8, at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre. And Mia and Kaia will both compete in Cranbrook this June, representing our region in the annual Performing Arts BC Provincial Festival. Congratulations!!!

“Nemesis” our Professional Training Division Tap Group, placed 1st for Group Tap 15 years; and “Hit the Road” our Tap 3 Closed Group, placed 2nd for Group Tap 13 years, both choreographed by Hailley Caulfield Postle. Thanks to everyone who built, painted, and set the “Nemesis/Seeing Red” tables, and special thanks to Emma’s Dad, Rod Langtry, for transport and storage of these “not small” props!

Very special thanks also to Understudy Jaedyn McLaughlin, who took over for “Nemesis” cast member Abriel who could not perform due to illness.

“Nemesis” will perform at the Chilliwack Festival Honours Performance, at 1pm, this Sunday, March 8 at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre. “Nemesis” also received a full scholarship to the No Borders Group Dance Challenge in May. Congratulations!

We also had some very impressive results for Tap Solos, all choreographed by Hailley Caulfield Postle: Emma Langtry placed 1st for her Tap Solo Age 15. Kaia Goddard placed 1st for her Tap Solo Age 16 years, and received a trophy over multiple categories.
