Kaia Neal in class at Caulfield School of Dance
Kaia Neal, age 12, was the only C.S.D. student who auditioned for the 2017 Royal Winnipeg Ballet School’s Professional Division Summer Session. Kaia will spend July 2 to 29 training intensively in ballet and pointe technique, character dance, and modern dance with classes in historical dance, conditioning, music, repertoire, Spanish dance, improvisation, choreography, visual art, dance history, creative movement, nutrition, and performance enhancement.
Kaia says, “arriving at the audition I was nervous that it would be too difficult, but it felt very natural. Once we came together to do centre practice I realized that everything had gone by so quickly, I forgot about my fear…. The day I found out that I had been excepted I was so excited. I felt so happy to be one step closer to my biggest goal of becoming a professional ballerina…. to anyone thinking about going to future auditions, I would say to just go for it, because if you don’t step out of your comfort zone, you may never know what you can accomplish.”
