Earth Day is an annual event celebrated around the world on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection.
The theme for Earth Day 2020 is climate action.
The enormous challenge — but also the vast opportunities — of action on climate change have made ACTION the most pressing topic for the 50th anniversary of Earth Day.
Celebrate Earth Day by making a few easy changes the Earth will appreciate.
- Get and use a reusable and recyclable water bottle e.g stainless steal (so no plastic/BPA toxicity, phthalates, lead, or other harmful substances).
- Dispose of waste properly. Composting biodegradable food and materials for example, feeds soil, organisms in the soil and plant life while reducing waste.
- Plant a garden, build a birdhouse, or plant flowers that bees and butterflies (our pollinators!) like.
- Become a better grocery shopper. Try to cut down on packaged foods – whole foods are better for us and the environment!
And today, try to enjoy nature! This can be challenging in these times of Physical Distancing, but use your creativity to find a way to admire the beauty of the natural world: Can you watch a sunset? Or stare at a cloud and breathe? Focusing on our breathing is a good way to remind ourselves that we are part of nature too!
We are grateful that the Caulfield School of Dance community tries to honour the planet with our art and our daily actions.
