Peter Smida will be teaching Ballet and Contemporary Technique, and Contemporary Ballet Repertoire in the Ballet and Contemporary Intensive Week A, at Caulfield School of Dance August 17 to 21.
This summer, we are returning to the use of our beautiful facility with new health and safety measures that include disinfecting between classes and each student having twice the recommended Distancing space in classes.
The Ballet and Contemporary Summer Intensive gives aspiring ballet and contemporary dancers daily classes in ballet, contemporary, and repertoire. There will also be classes in conditioning instructed by the teachers in their fields of expertise such as Pilates, Progressing Ballet Technique, etc. The faculty includes international guest artists. More information on other Summer faculty is posted on this website and our Facebook page.

Peter Smida is an independent dancer, choreographer, actor and emerging filmmaker based in Vancouver, BC. He is currently the artist in residence with Ballet BC as well as a teacher for Modus Operandi: Vancouver Contemporary Dance Program under the direction of Tiffany Tregarthen & David Raymond, and the Arts Umbrella Dance Company under the direction of Artemis Gordon.

Peter officially joined Ballet BC as a company artist in 2008 and danced there for the next 11 seasons. While with the company, he created, collaborated, and performed works by internationally esteemed choreographers including Crystal Pite, William Forsythe, Ohad Naharin, Johan Inger, Jorma Elo, Itzik Galili, Sharon Eyal and Medhi Walerski. Peter also choreographed works and produced films for several workshops and labs as part of the company’s outreach and served as a rehearsal director and coach as the current Ballet BC Artist in Residence.
