Originally from Saratoga, California, Karah Abiog received her bachelor’s degree in dance from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. Her training began at Ballet Capriole under Elizabeth Neumann and Karen Millar. She has danced and toured extensively with companies such as Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble, Deeply Rooted Productions, Earl Mosley’s Diversity of Dance, nathan trice/RITUALS, and Wylliams Henry Contemporary Dance Company among others. Karah has been fortunate to work with an array of artistically gifted choreographers and artists, from contemporary Dwight Rhoden to modern master Donald McKayle, and from Afro-Haitian priestess Katherine Dunham to the avant garde and theatrical Martha Clarke. She has performed with recording artists such as Ray Charles, Roberta Flack, Jennifer Holliday and Dionne Warwick and operas such as Aida, Carmina Burana and Porgy and Bess with Opera Colorado. Karah also served as visiting professor of modern dance in the Dance Division of the Conservatory of Music and Dance at University of Missouri – Kansas City. In addition, she has been a faculty member and guest performer at the International Seminar of Brasilia, where she first served in 1995 and has been grateful to return throughout the years. In the spring of 2009, Karah started at LINES Ballet as a modern faculty member for the Training Program and accepted the title of Director the following school year. She continues to teach throughout the educational programs.
