Preschool Dance classes develop creativity, physical self-expression, coordination, rhythm, and cooperation. Caulfield School of Dance located in Port Moody, close to Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, and North Burnaby, has been offering its Creative Dance course as an ideal introduction to dance for children aged 4 and under since 1989. Caulfield School of Dance Preschool Dance courses also include Pre-Primary and Primary Ballet programs and Pre-Primary and Primary Tap programs for children aged 4 and up.
Creative Dance and Ballet classes also develop flexibility. These foundational courses use classical, popular, and world music as well as children’s rhymes and songs.
Tap classes use mostly popular music and musicality is a major focus – eventually tap dancers become musicians with their feet.
All Caulfield School of Dance Preschool Dance courses composed of structured exercises many of which are “disguised” as games.
Each once-a-week Creative Dance, Ballet, or Tap course prepares a performance piece for our annual spring stage production, an exciting experience that develops memory, musicality, team building, and self-confidence.
Students can be enrolled in more than one of the once-a-week Creative Dance, Ballet, or Tap course offered in a year, but only with the understanding that they may therefore be performing in all four of our year-end shows.
Using classical positions and lines students to gain poise and the coordination for progressively more complex movement patterns in both Creative Dance and Ballet courses. Ballet training is the indispensable foundation to all forms of Western theatrical dance. That is why we recommend that all performing arts students start early and keep it up. Caulfield School of Dance offers ballet skills in our Creative Dance courses for students up to age 4.
Most students from age 4 take a Ballet course and a Tap course back to back on the same day of the week.
From age 5, it is ideal to add Musical Theatre course too. With Ballet, Tap, and Musical Theatre, older preschool children have an ideal foundation for their performing arts training.
