To stand the Solo Seal Royal Academy of Dance examination, students must be age 15 or above, and have received a mark of Distinction for the Advanced II Royal Academy of Dance Vocational examination.

The international standard for Vocational Level training is 6 days of ballet training per week. To stand the Solo Seal examination, candidates must train with a program of 14 or more hours of Ballet* (including Pointe for female students) and additional hours of Jazz Technique, Modern/ Contemporary Technique and/or Acrobatics are also highly recommended. Students who take Tap have a greater understanding of musicality and rhythm, and those who take Musical Theatre and/or Acting have better confidence/stage presence/expressivity than those who do not.
Applying to the Half Day Training option* is recommended to Vocational R.A.D. program students.

Home practice is obligatory for all R.A.D. program students.
Examinations:
Students in full Vocational level programs are eligible for consideration to stand examinations. Examinations are optional. All candidates must have the approval of the signing instructor(s) to stand an examination.
All Solo Seal level R.A.D. exam candidates must take Private or Semiprivate Exam Preparation instruction a minimum of 14 hours at a cost of $70 to $100 per hour depending on size of program.
The School will collect and forward all exam fees to the Royal Academy of Dance. Exam fees are non-refundable even if a candidate is deemed unable to stand an exam due to inadequate preparation (i.e. home practice) or illness. (In case of not standing an examination due to illness, a written request to the R.A.D. with a Physician’s note may result in a refund of up to 50% of an exam fee.) Any additional costs for examinations will also be billed to the participant’s account.
Performing:
Students in any full Vocational program are permitted to enrol in a ballet Performance Course which will prepare at least one piece of repertoire each year for competition(s) and the School’s annual yearend production.
Professional Training Division membership with or without the Half Day Training option* is by audition only.
Limited Private and/or Semiprivate instruction in Voice, Speech Arts, and any Dance Discipline available for skill improvement and/or performance piece preparation.
