Congratulations to Caulfield School of Dance Graduate Brynn Bishop (2016), who has been selected for a paid Archaeology Internship in Athens with Simon Fraser University’s Department of Hellenic Studies. Brynn is now with the Stavros Niarchos Foundation’s office in Athens until December 15, 2018.
The S.N.F. is world’s largest private philanthropic organization. The Athens interns will spend over two months getting hands-on experience in the S.N.F.’s various program areas including arts and culture, social welfare, education and health and sports. The S.N.F. Centre for Hellenic Studies at SFU has been fortunate to be able to send four exceptional students over the past number of years to Athens.
Brynn is working on her degree in Bio Archeology at S.F.U. She has been on the Dean’s Honour Roll in her first and second years at SFU, and last year she was also on the President’s Honour Roll. Beyond her excellent academic record, Brynn has accomplished a lot in her short time at SFU. She assisted an S.F.U. professor of Hellenic studies in researching all the appearance of the Virgin Mary on Byzantine, Egyptian, and Greek sanctuaries. She has substantial international experience, having twice worked on European archaeological excavations.
About the prestigious internship Brynn says, “It’s a privilege to work alongside such an influential non-profit organization which recognizes the importance of education, cultural heritage management, and social welfare.”
Brynn and her family credit training at CSD as fundamental in her life. Says Brynn’s Mom Tara, “Volunteerism, appreciation of art and music, poise, patience, self-confidence and the ability to collaborate with others, were all were learned in the studio. Watching my girls on your stage will forever be my Joy, seeing them on the World stage is absolutely remarkable!! Dance training has, in part, facilitated that!”
Brynn has a keen interest in philanthropy and the positive impact it can have in the areas of education, cultural heritage management, and social welfare. Brynn is looking forward to bringing back the skills she learns on the internship and applying them in her own community, where she already has an extensive track-record of volunteering.
Congratulations Brynn!!
