Last weekend, Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet captured the imagination with their uniquely Canadian retelling of The Nutcracker. Young students from all around the lower mainland came out to audition for this year’s production. Caulfield students selected for roles included Chiara Go, Isabel Oliver,Thea Harmse, and Julia Jacobson who were all Polar Bears; Lincoln Russo, who performed as a mouse, and Victoria Russo, who had the honour of performing as Clara’s younger brother Dieter.
Caulfield Dancer Anya Bartlett is participating in the Royal City Youth Ballet’s Nutcracker – happening in various locations until December 23rd. She has had roles as a page, soldier, and a baffoon (running out from Mother Ginger’s skirt).
