Chilliwack Lions Club Congratulations

Caulfield School of Dance students participated in the 2021 Chilliwack Lions Club Music and Dance Festival with 52 solo and duo pieces in the Ballet, Tap/ Stage, Modern/ Contemporary, Jazz/ Lyrical and Acro Sections; from experienced competitors to those doing their first ever competition!

Our results in the Ballet Section are here, and below are our results in the other Sections.

In the Tap, the Fiorda sisters took three 1st placements:
Alexis Fiorda received 1st place with her Tap Solo and was awarded the Lion Phill Edwards Memorial Trophy; Taia Fiorda was awarded 1st place with her Tap Solo and received the Wayne Peach Challenge Trophy; Sister duo Alexis and Taia Fiorda received 1st place in their Tap Duo and were also awarded the Fleita Tutte School of Dance Challenge Trophy.

All three pieces were choreographed by Hailley Caulfield Postle.

Our one soloist in Acro,  Jacquelyn Baillie, was awarded 1st place for her Acro Solo 12 years, choreographed by Tally Rodin.

In the Modern and Contemporary section, Aaliyah Fiorda was awarded 1st place for her Contemporary Solo choreographed by Crystal Wills with choreographic assistance and preparation by Hailley Caulfield Postle; Yeseung Lee was awarded 3rd place for her Contemporary solo (her very first solo piece ever!) choreographed by Lauren Taylor; Thea Harmse, age 11, was awarded 2nd for her Contemporary solo choreographed and prepared by graduating student Kaia Goddard, who was awarded 3rd place in the 17 years division for her Modern Solo choreographed by Ballet BC’s Peter Smida and prepared by Cori Caulfield.

Kaia Goddard will also be competing in the 2021 Performing Arts BC Provincial Festival, known affectionately as “The Provincials” as the Chilliwack Lions Club Music and Dance Festival 2020 Senior Modern Representative.

For the Jazz, Lyrical, and Stage Sections, 6 of our dancers received placings for their solos:
Kaia Goddard received 2nd place in both her Jazz Solo choreographed by Lauren Taylor, and her Lyrical Solo choreographed by Hailley Caulfield Postle; Lincoln Oakley received 2nd place for her Jazz Solo also by Lauren Taylor; Sadie Reyburn received 2nd place for her Lyrical Solo by Hailley Caulfield Postle; Thea Harmse was awarded 3rd place for her Lyrical Solo also by Hailley Caulfield Postle; Aaliyah Fiorda placed 2nd with her Jazz Solo by Hailley Caulfield Postle.

And, Alexis Fiorda, placed 2nd with her Jazz Solo by Hailley Caulfield Postle and was chosen to participate in “The Provincials” as the Intermediate Stage Runner-Up also receiving a $50.00 Bursary.

The Stage and Jazz Adjudicators also chose Aaliyah Fiorda to participate in “The Provincials” as a Merited Participant.

Alexis Fiorda also competed with Mia Reitenbach in a Jazz Duo choreographed by Hailley Caulfield Postle, and they received 2nd place.

Mia Reitenbach will also be competing in “The Provincials” as the Chilliwack Lions Club Music and Dance Festival 2020 Intermediate Stage Dance Representative.

The 2021 Chilliwack Lions Club Music and Dance Festival was conducted entirely by video submissions.

We are very proud of all of our dancers for dancing their pieces so beautifully for the camera!

Well done everyone!

Congratulations to all the competitors and best of luck for the upcoming Synergy Surrey competitions!
